This is a rare and attractive first edition of Hans Andersen’s Fairy Tales illustrated by William Heath Robinson.

 

Condition of the Binding:

 

The red binding is in Very Good condition being complete and sound.  The front board has a wonderful plate inlaid of a stork illustrated in gilt. The front board and back boards have fading and marks; there is fading to the spine; the spine has knocks to the top and the bottom of the spine; and there are corner knocks.

 

 

Condition of the Pages:

 

The colour plates each have their own captioned tissue guards (that are discoloured and some with creasing) with all the coloured tipped-in plates being in Fine condition except for the plate opposite page 56 which is in Very Good condition with an old crease present but barely noticeable.

 

All the other pages are exceptionally clean and in overall Very Good condition with occasional and light foxing throughout and corner creasing to some pages.
