This is a very rare Charlie Chaplin photograph that features Chaplin in his classic pose as the Little Tramp in front of a “small army of press reporters”.
The Charlie Chaplin press conference at The Savoy Hotel was taken upon the evening of his arrival in the UK for the first time in 21 years to promote his new film, Limelight.

"Faced by asmall army of Press reporters and photographers, Charlie Chaplin speaks from a dais at the Savoy Hotel, Strand, Lndon, this evening (Tuesday) soon after his arrival from America.
With his family, he is on a six months visit to Europe and will see the premiere here of his new film 'Limelight'."

The reverse of the Charlie Chaplin press photograph has the P.A. Reuters rubber back stamp and a green paper adhered with the reporter’s comments.
The Charlie Chaplin press photograph measures and is in Near Fine condition with very minor and barely noticeable small surface creases to the top of the photograph that is only mentioned for completeness.
This is an important Charlie Chaplin press photograph since Chaplin was refused re-entry into the U.S. due to what they believed was a Communist sympathiser. However, on this day Charlie Chaplin was reported in the Guardian newspaper as saying that he was not a Communist.
