A very rare collection of Charlie Chaplin Essanay Studios postcards are for sale. These are portrait photographs of a very young Charlie Chaplin dressed as the little tramp and are numbered 1 to 3.
These Essanay Studio postcards have the Native American Indian logo to the bottom right corner of each postcard and the words
“Copyright Essanay Film Mfg. Co.”
to the top edge of each postcard.
Charlie Chaplin made 14 short comedies for Essanay Studios in 1915, and one cameo appearance in a Broncho Billy western. Please Note: Essanay Studios was founded by Gloria Swanson and Gilbert M. “Broncho Billy” Anderson.
The postcards date from circa 1915 and are rarely seen or come up for sale.
