My Life With Chaplin by Lita Grey Chaplin First Printing First Edition 1966
My Life With Chaplin book by Lita Grey Chaplin, an actress who was the second wife of Charlie Chaplin, is for sale. This is the first printing and first edition book published by Bernard Geiss Associates in the USA in 1966. This book has 325 numbered pages.
It is believed that Lita Grey first met Charlie Chaplin at a Hollywood café when she was just 8 years of age. At the age of 12, Lita Grey appeared with Charlie Chaplin in The Kid. Lita Grey and Charlie Chaplin were married between 1924 and 1927, with the marriage ending in a very public and bitter divorce.
Lita Grey Chaplin (15 April 1908 – 29 December 1995) gives a very frank account of their marriage, with even a quotation from Charles Chaplin My Autobiography published two years earlier in 1964 that states:
“During the filming of The Gold Rush I married for the second time. Because we have two grown sons of whom I am very fond, I will not go into any details. For two years we were married and tried to make a go of it, but it was hopeless and ended in a great deal of bitterness.”
Between pages 152 and 153 are 24 pages of some stunning black and white photographs of Lita Grey Chaplin, Charlie Chaplin, and others.
The dust jacket is in Very Good +condition with wear to the top and bottom of the spine and other edges, but with the front flaps unclipped with the original price of $5.95 still present and printed to the top of the front flap (Please see the photographs).
The original red binding has black and gilt lettering to the spine and is in Very Good +condition with only the feintest of fading to the edges of the binding. This is an extremely attractive binding (Please see the photographs).
This is a great book, and a must-have book for any Charlie Chaplin fan and collector.
