Huntley and Palmers Lusitania Ship ‘Export’ Biscuit Tin 1908
The Huntley and Palmers Lusitania biscuit tin was produced only in 1908 just for the US export market for the ship’s maiden voyage and so is very limited in quantity, this being just one of 20,000 of the Huntley and Palmers Lusitania novelty biscuit tins that were produced, and how many that are known to survive is unknown.
This collectable and rare Huntley and Palmers novelty biscuit tin measures an impressive 9.50 x 3.75 x 2.75 inches (approx).
The lid of the novelty biscuit tin bears an artistic impression of the Lusitania ship departing New York harbour, with the Statue of Liberty to the background, bound for England. To the sides are 4 artistic impressions of the interior of the Lusitania ship.
The base of the Huntley and Palmers Lusitania biscuit tin bearing the Huntley and Palmer logo, the Royal Warrants and other associated details including the words clearly visible:
"By Appointment to His Majesty King Edward VII"
This rare and collectable Huntley and Palmers novelty biscuit tin is in Very Good condition. There is wear to the novelty biscuit tin, which can be seen in the photographs, but this commemorative tin has survived extremely well being complete and without dents.
