This book measures 6.25 x 9.00 inches (approximately) and was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons, New York in 1939. This is the Pulitzer Prize edition for The Yearling that won the prize in the same year about a charming story of a young boy who adopts an orphaned fawn.
The dust jacket is in Good + condition being complete but with repairs to the reverse and chips to the edges, with the price of $3.50 present to the top of the front flap.
The original binding is in Near Fine condition with minor bumps to the top and bottom of the spine.
Internally the book is very attractive with double page colour illustrations to the front and back of the book, and 14 stunning one-page illustrations by N.C. Wyeth. The pages are clean with only very light age toning, there is an inscription of a name in a neat hand to one of the blank preliminary pages with notes in another small hand on the uniqueness of the dust jacket. All of the 14 colour illustrations are present and are in Fine condition.
This is a very important and highly desirable example of The Yearling.
