Rev. W. Awdry James the Red Engine Thomas the Tank Book is for sale. James the Red Engine is Number 3 in the Thomas the Tank Railway Series. This is a 1987 reprint, with stunning illustrations throughout by C. Reginald Dalby, with the book first being published in 1948.
The pictorial binding is glossy, with the front board bearing a colour illustration of James the Red Engine. The binding is in Near Fine condition with slight wear to the spine and slight knock to the bottom right corner of the front board. This is a very lovely and attractive set of boards. The back cover has a Rev W Awdry catalogue list of Thomas the Tank books.
James the Red Engine has 62 numbered pages with text to the left hand side and colour illustrations to the right. To the end of the book is an advertisement for pop books and the Map of the Island of Sodor. Apart from very light surface wear to the front and rear endpapers, the pages are in Near Fine condition
This is a very attractive example of the very early Thomas the Tank book, James the Red Engine, by the Rev. W. Awdry.
