The William Makepeace Thackeray The Newcomes maroon brown coloured binding, which are blind-stamped with gilt decoration to the spines are in Very Good condition being complete, but with marks to the boards and fading to the spine and corner knocks.  However, the decoration, lettering and volume numbering is still vividly clear.

 

This is the William Makepeace Thackeray The Newcomes first edition books in the original cloth published by Bradbury and Evans London, with the Volume 1 Title Page dated 1854 and the Volume 2 Title Page dated 1855.

 

William Makepeace Thackeray The Newcomes Volume 1 has 380 numbered pages, all edges marbled, with all 23 full page plates by Richard Doyle on steel and wood as per the List of Plates to the front of the book. These Richard Doyle full page plates are accompanied with smaller black and white illustrations in the text also by Richard Doyle.

 

William Makepeace Thackeray The Newcomes Volume 2 has 375 numbered pages, all edges marbled, with all 23 plates by Richard Doyle correct as per the List of Plates to the front of the book and smaller black and white illustrations in the text also by Richard Doyle.

 

There is foxing to the pages of both volumes throughout and are in overall Good condition.
